Fishing Links

   These photographs are of L.E. ORLA. The link here is that this Irish Navy ship, (L.E. are the initials for the Gaelic "Long Eireannach" or Irish Ship [naval]), has been twinned with the town of Kinsale and honours us with many visits during the year. The photo, left, taken during the Kinsale 2000 regatta, shows her during a very impressive simulated rescue with an Air Corp Dauphin helicopter.

The ship is of the Royal Navy "Peacock" series, having spent most of her service with them in.Hong Kong, retiring surprisingly early. L.E. ORLA and her sister ship, the L.E. CIARA, continue to give sterling service in the recently greatly expanded Irish Naval Service.
